A fun project for a fun purpose, that’s what ‘Sluggy” is. With the decision to move off-campus for my senior year of university, I wanted to create something useful for the new house and, what could be more useful than a quarto-bottle-opener intended to be used by the four college students sharing the house. As a UCSC student, a banana slug seemed to be a great idea to incorporate in the design and therefore I fabricated steel to create ‘Sluggy’. Adding to its functionality, I placed some LED light under the banana slug to signal the bottle opening seekers to the wall mounted sculpture, and the bottle opening sides. Quench your thurst.
